Went to local motor factors and purchased a roll of fuel line, this has been fitted to car, but i need to find some clips to mount it to the bottom of the bodyshell.I also purchased a brand new set of leads, distributor cap and rotor arm. These have all been fitted to the car. Currently the car turns over much faster, and i currently have flames popping out of the carb, which i believe is the timing. Check out the flames below!

April 2007
Been a great month this month! I fitted the 2nd replacment starter motor, had a few problems with working out which wires went where, but thanks to the guys at Turbo Sport forums i managed to get it all wired up correctly. Upon checking the ignition switch out it was found to be faulty on the start circuit, so i temporary installed a Start Button. On the 22th of April i was ready to go, after 18 years off the road, i was about to find out if the engine would turn over and it did!. My only problem was I wasnt able to feed the fuel to the carbs as I had no tank fitted, and i was trying to use petrol can as a make do.

March 2007
Winters over, so it was time to hit the garage again so I could fit the new starter motor. I took my old motor out and tested it on the battery directly and nothing. I set about fitting the start motor i had bought off ebay only to find it was not what it had been listed as. So it was back trying to search for another one. I contacted all my local scrap yards and auto spares but nobody came up trumps, so i turned to Ebay again and this time got lucky from a seller in Scotland.

August 2006
I purchased 2 x Earth leads from a local motor factors, and this weekend I went down the lockup to add them.I attached the earth directly to the Neg on the battery and the other end to the Carb Manifold. Turnt the key in the ignition, got dash lights but still nothing not even a click. This time I put the other earth directly onto the bolts that hold the Starter motor to the gearbox bell housing. Turnt the key and still nothing. I currently have 2, 1 is a large RED 12V feed, the other is a small Red/White fly cable.

Brand new battery purchased

May 2006

Some free time, so I managed to get down the garage, its been a few months. First step to check the connections to the starter motor, and solenoid. Having connected up everything I could see it was time to turn the ignition just to see if the starter would click. At this point I did not want to start the car as I have no exhaust on the car. Although I had prepped up the engine by giving it some oil in all the right places, it was mearly a test to here a solenoid click. Upon turning the key I had nothing.. except for the dash light.

March 2006
A battery and some fuel was purchased, it was time to test the wiring out to make sure everything worked as it should. Switching on the ignition for the first time in many years, I was chuffed with the result. The wipers worked, the break lights worked, I didnt haver the indicators connected so not sure how they are. Only one dash light came on to tell me that the full beam was on. Next step.. checking the starter!.

January 2006

With the front loom fitted, I set about installing the rear loom in the car and ensuring every wire I could think of was connected up as much as it could be. Not muhc had been done to the car over Christmas period as it was too cold. I had however removed the flat tyre and got this sorted so I could pull the car out of the garage to work on it.

18th September 2005

Today I fitted the newly modified front wiring loom to the car, annoyingly one of the front tyres had decided to go flat (like they do!) I was unabled to move the car out of the garage so I didnt managed to plug the bulk head end of the loom back in yet. This is because the lockup is too small, you cant open the doors fully if the car is in the garage.

11th September 2005

The garage door wasnt opened this weekends, as the loom tape and other connectors had arrived. I spent sunday altering the loom that I had removed with the correct gauge wire so I could extend the connector to the alternator.

4th September 2005

This weekend I decided to remove the front wiring loom from the car, because the loom I managed to get the local scrapyard was for a Mk1 Escort fitted with a Kent engine, the alternator is on the opposite side than the Pinto engine. Therefore the loom needs to be extended and modified in a few areas. Looking on eBay I managed to find somebody selling the same type of non-adhesive tape that was used on all
Ford wiring looms of that period. This means I will be able to clean up the existing end to the wires that attach to the Indicators and make the whole loom look new!. Thanks to eBay seller perkyl8r a snip at £4.50! I also found somebody selling NOS Ford cable clips, these I will put into storage until the car gets its respray and other work.

This sunday I spent digging out the radiator from the back of the garage. I wasnt holding my breath much in this still managing to hold any water. But upon connecting up all the pipes to the cooling system, and topping up the rad with water & a tiny bit of fluid found it to be very good. Only a tiny drip appeared from one of the cores something some
rad weld would probably fix until a better rad can be sourced. The lower radiator hose had perished beyond use, but luckily I had a spare sat in the large box of spares in the boot of the car. A visit to the car a few days later showed the water had settle in the rad and only needed topping up where the tiny leak was spilling the water. I have had to remove the Kenlowe Fan for the moment, this will be refitted at a later date.

21st August 2005

This sunday i fitted the new clutch cable that I purchased for the car earlier in the year again this was another ebay purchase and I cost me £15.00, RS clutch cables are longer than standard Mk1 escort clutch cables. It took me two days to fit the cable, mainly because the first day I tried to fit it without the aid of the Haynes manual and was sure I was missing something. Having spent the evening reading the manual, I fitted the cable within minutes the next day. Sometimes it pays to read the manual!

14th August 2005

No work to the escort as im recovering from my holiday in the Lake District!

7th August 2005

On holiday to the Lake District!

31st July 2005

This weekend I decided to sort out all the ancillaries of the engine bay. I sourced my box of parts for the HT leads, the coil, the accelerator cable, clutch cable. I manage to source a image of a RS2000 engine bay off the internet and made sure I had all the required pipes and lead and connectors. It also included a rather rare RS2000 K&N Air Filter.

24th July 2005

This sunday I fitted the propshaft back onto the car. Luckily those many years ago I had put all the nuts & bolts for this into the holes at the end of the shafts joint. So these were cleaned up and the shaft was fitted very easily under the car. This is a one piece propshaft, not sure what type. I managed to get a new bearing for the end of the gearbox for this, again off eBay!.

17th July 2005

The four branch manifold was sourced from the back of the garage, I was abit concerned because it looked so rusty, but a wire brush visit later and a set of gaskets and the manifold was fitted back onto the block. The main exit pipe is currently very close to the floorpan, but im sure this will be adjusted as soon as I purchase rest of the system.

10th July 2005

Today i decided to take on the task of refitting the gearbox. A Task I was very worried about, and still am concerned on wether I will have any problems with it. I was amazed I managed to do this job on my own, with the car sat on axle stands and a couple of trolley jacks. The car stayed in the lockup the whole time. The gearbox had been cleaned up and refilled with oil, but that was all.
